Versatility: Unlocking Your Creative Path.
Navigating the music industry has been a journey of many roles, many lessons, and many opportunities. From engineering for artists like Mr Eazi to managing rising stars like Sishii, I've worn many hats and walked many paths. And through it all, I've learned one crucial lesson: the power of versatility.
In the creative industry, versatility is not just an asset - it's a necessity. It's what allows us to adapt to new trends, seize new opportunities, and navigate the ever-changing landscape of the creative industry. It's what enables us to wear different hats, juggle different roles, and still stay true to our passion.
But versatility is not just about having a diverse skill set. It's about having a diverse mindset. It's about being open to new ideas, new challenges, and new ways of doing things. It's about being resilient in the face of change and persistent in the pursuit of our goals.
And perhaps most importantly, versatility is about balance. It's about balancing our creative pursuits with our financial stability, our passion with our practicality. It's about understanding that we can be artists and entrepreneurs, dreamers and doers, creators and sustainers.
In a Harvard Business Review article, it was stated that "versatility is the master capability for leading in a VUCA world — that is, one characterised by volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity. We define versatility as the ability to read and respond to change with a wide repertoire of complementary skills and behaviours." This couldn't be more true in the music industry.
So, embrace versatility. Cultivate a diverse skill set, foster a diverse mindset, and strive for balance in all that you do. Remember, in the creative industry, versatility is not just a strategy - it's a way of life.
Here's to being versatile, adaptable, and resilient. Here's to navigating the music industry with grace, grit, and gratitude. And here's to creating a career that's as diverse, dynamic, and fulfilling as the music we love.
And speaking of music we love, I'd like to share an EP by Sishii, an artist I've had the privilege of managing. His EP "A Night In The Hills" is a testament to the power of perseverance, creativity, and, of course, versatility. Enjoy!
May we keep going, growing and learning 🥷
Blessings,
Milan
