Milan Rendall

Born and raised in Cape Town, the son of two architects. In recording studios since he was sixteen. Studied film and media production at the University of Cape Town, where he more or less lived in a studio called B13 — producing, engineering, mixing, shooting and writing.

The Bowling Club

Co-founder and CEO of The Bowling Club, the culture media company he started with the artist Sishii in 2021 — a house for the stories that move culture across Africa: Sishii, Camomile Live, Camomile Sessions, The B-Side and The Bowling Club.

The record

• 2014 — first studio, at sixteen.
• UCT — film and media production; studio B13.
• 2019 — builds his own studio, the RNDL Room: three years of saving, six months of planning, three months of building.
• 2019 — meets Sishii and writes an eight-point plan for one single.
• 2020 — “Either Way” goes to number one on iTunes South Africa, above Drake on Apple Music.
• 2020 — Thando Skwatsha’s debut EP, Love Is, is made in the RNDL Room; IOL runs “Milan Rendall: My ultimate SA music playlist”; RNDL Co.
• 2021 — starts The Bowling Club; Sishii’s Sincerely Yours, recorded in the RNDL Room, comes out.
• 2023 — produces, engineers and writes on Mr Eazi’s Chop Life Sound System; sends 1,500 cold pitches.
• 2024 — Fifty-Two: a new song every Friday; teaches himself to master; Camomile Live sells out, twice.
• 2025 — “Either Way” soundtracks Love + Wine, the number one film on Netflix South Africa; Laundry premieres at TIFF.
• 2026 — Camomile Live sells out Untitled Basement, Johannesburg; The B-Side goes live on 25 September.
