Clear Talk: A Lesson Learned.

In the whirlwind of the entertainment industry, emotions can run high and stakes even higher. I recently found myself in a situation that underscored the importance of clear, honest communication.

A few months into a project, I received an unexpected message from a client. They were upset, listing every misstep I had made. I was taken aback, believing these issues had been addressed and resolved.

Looking back, I realised the client had prioritised maintaining peace over expressing their true feelings at the time of the incidents. This unexpressed frustration had simmered, eventually boiling over.

This was a stark reminder of the importance of open, honest, and timely communication. It's crucial to address issues as they arise, rather than letting them accumulate. It's also vital to foster an environment where everyone feels comfortable expressing their thoughts and feelings.

In the entertainment industry, high-pressure situations and tight deadlines can sometimes lead to communication breakdowns. But by prioritising clear and honest communication, we can prevent misunderstandings, build stronger relationships, and create a more positive working environment.

As George Bernard Shaw once said, "The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place." Let's strive to ensure that our communication is not just an illusion, but a reality.
