Adversity's Silver Lining.

Drawing from my personal experiences, I've come to understand that adversity, while challenging, often serves as a catalyst for growth and transformation.

As a child, I faced physical bullying at school, a period that was both painful and humiliating. However, it was through this adversity that I learned valuable lessons about empathy, understanding, and standing up for myself.

In the face of bullying, I learned to look into the world of others to understand why someone would feel the desire to exert force over me. This understanding taught me that it's very difficult to hate something if we truly understand it. It also helped me develop a deep sense of empathy, a trait that has served me well in my career and personal life.

Moreover, this experience taught me the importance of asking for help and standing up for myself. It showed me that there's strength in vulnerability and power in dialogue. These lessons have been instrumental in my journey, shaping me into the person I am today.

While I can’t say that I am the biggest fan of war leaders, Winston Churchill’s words do stand out for me: "A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty." This reminds me that every challenge we face is an opportunity for growth and learning.

So, my big learnings here are: remember that it's okay to ask for help, it's okay to stand up for yourself, and it's okay to be vulnerable. I need to embrace these moments as opportunities for growth, and remember, the lessons I learnt (and continue to learn) in overcoming adversity have often served as the foundation for my greatest achievements.

May we keep going, growing and learning 🥷

Blessings,

Milan
